Visual Documentation:

Visual Documentation provides Web-based VIEWS into an IS environment.  Users are able to drill-down into buildings, data centers, network closets, cabinets, servers and storage.   Users are also ability to search IS inventory by equipment name, application or other parameter, provide higher levels customer service and make better business decisions.   Users love the WEB browser based user interface because it is simple, clear and easy-to-use.

Visual Tour:  By clicking this Visual Tour link, you will be able to take a tour through a sample IS environment.   This download will take about 20 seconds on a high speed link.  If using Microsoft Internet Explorer® (recommended), you will notice that a navigation window appears on the left side of your screen.    Follow the instructions shown on the main screen or use the navigation window to locate, search and/or display product descriptions, part#s, serial#s, etc.    For additional information on a piece of equipment, simply click on an image to drill-down into an area of interest.    If using Netscape® (not recommended), you will only see a listing of Visio pages.

Microsoft Visio® Files:  The documentation provided by Austin-CMS consists primarily of a Microsoft Visio® file.  This master file contains images for each numbered part or item accompanied by a small database tied to the image.  This image may be as simple as a disk drive or may be a more complex set of images.  Images are assembled to visually represent a completed "system".  This Visio® schematic and associated data allows for fast access and easy reporting.

Web Enabled Files Once the Visio® file is built and asset information stored within that file, hyperlinks are added to the Visio file allowing easy navigation throughout the file via a browser.  Visio® provides extensive report generation capabilities with typical output to a Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet.  Our clients often use these reports or at times refine them further using the capabilities of Excel.  All clients are given both a base Visio file and a set of Web enabled files.
